Jasmine looked up in the sky. She was shivering, but couldn't care less.
It was about midnight and she had just heard from news, that northern light has been seen. She adored them. They were always so different- once like ice-cold, another time like rainbow were drunk.
She hoped to see them tonight too. She even came out so late having only thin coat on. It was the first really cold night over long time and she had nothing thicker with her in dormitory, where she lived while studying in Aeon High school. Now she was standing in this huge Maple Park and stared the sky, like sane, hoping to see even a climbs of this sky show.
"Aren't it a bit late for girls like you to be out here?" She heard a calm voice behind her. She startled and glanced the place she heard the voice.
A young man stood there looking her menacingly. He was much taller than she was and wore long grey overcoat and dark red-chequered scarf. His hands were hidden in pockets. He had rough features and silvery wind-tousled hair.
She noticed that the wind had really risen again and she felt more shivery than before.
"Pardon?"
He repeated his question and run his eyes over the girl.
"Oh, I just came to see northern light." She replied and directed eyes back in starry sky.
"Northern light?" he came closer, stood next to her and turned his eyes up in sky, too. "I thought you could only see it after the snow comes down."
"No," she told and compressed her lips together.
"Have you seen any yet?" he asked after a while.
"Not tonight." she didn't feel much like talking. He seemed to figure it and fell silent.
Soon the show began- first only small white stripes, then green and soon all cool hues. It was indescribable and lasted about 15 minutes.
When the last ones appeared, she sighed. He felt like it woke him up from a dream and looked at that strange girl, who would come out in cold, only to see some strange lights in the sky. She looked older than she really was he now saw it. Her brow thick hair was in ponytail and when she looked up, they could almost reach her waist. Under her coat he saw jeans that were covered with intriguing patterns.
"You're shivering?"
"What? Well, I was in a bit of a hurry, when coming here..." She shrugged her shoulders.
"Here, put this on," he grabbed the scarf and besieged her with it. It was bigger than she could ever imagine. She tried to say something against it, but was too late.
"I'll walk you to your dormitory," he said calmingly.
"My dorm?"
He smiled.
"You know where I live?"
He didn't answer, but started walking. She didn't. After few steps he turned "Are you coming?"
She nodded and they went. It felt like she had known him for the beginning of times. They didn't say anything.
After few minutes they were standing in front of her dorm already. She passed the scarf back to him with a slight smile.
"By the way, my name is William." he introduced himself.
"Jasmine,"
He smiled mysteriously, "I know,"
She frowned, but he only laughed silently and bed over her and kissed her slightly, turned and walked away, bonding his scarf around his neck.
She stared him a while with surprise and then run up in her room.
Next day she sat down in her classroom and chatted with her friends, when suddenly teacher entered with William accompanying him.
Jasmine was stunned. He was a practicant.
William seemed not to recognize her. Of course it was a play. She didn't mind it. She was only disturbed, that it was a practicant who made his move on her. Like she didn't have in off problems.
"Open your books at page 67, please," the teacher told loudly, waking her up from her thoughts.
She didn't like this subject at all. Literature just wasn't for her. And because of that she didn't like the teacher either, even thought he did try to do all in his power to make them love writers and poets. But she just couldn't see any of it in him- he was hypercorrect, like math teacher would be like, little, fat, hoary hair and those round classes on his nose all the time. Biology, now that was a subject!
But that didn?t help her right now.
She avoided even casting a glace at him. But she found herself watching out from window most times. She sat next to window. It was dull out there.
"Miss Jasmine!" the teacher sounded really disturbed of now. "Would you mind?"
"Sorry," she smiled guiltily.
William seamed amused of it. Jasmine acted, like she didn't notice.
The whole class moved on like a pug stuck in chewing gum.
But, thank God, at last the bell rang and they got to move in other class. When she passed William, she raised her eyebrows with one question.
He grinned and turned his attention on his "mentor".
She left, but she saw him on the school later as well. One time she was passing him, when he bounced her.
"Hey!" she said with annoyance in her voice.
"Oops," came over his lips and he went on, talking with Math teacher, Mrs. Burier, who gave her stunning expression.
She felt like hitting someone. Thanks the Gods, the next lesson was the last and she was clad for it.
After this one, she headed in the dorm.
She was chancing the clothes, when she suddenly felt a note in her uniform's pocket. At first she felt surprised, but then she remembered the bouncing with William and she groaned.
Still, she opened it. There was only one word: "Surprised?"
She started laughing- what a guy! It was surprising as hell. And after long time she actually felt happy.
She threw the note into fire and started making housework. To make it more fun, she put music on- quite laud.
After few minutes she barely heard a knocking on door. She turned the music down.
"Just a sec!" She opened the door and he was standing there with sleepy face.
"You!" he wasn't very happy about it.
"What are YOU doing here?" she felt like her chin just fell for a meter or so.
"I live here and tried to get some sleep!" he sounded crumply.
"You live here?"
"Yes, since today. Are you always so noisy?" his voice was really aggravated and seemed he was going to say something bad neither she deserved it or not.
"Yes, since today." She smiled with devils in her eyes and banged the door closed, turned the music back on and went on with her cleaning.
